Are USB Drives Old School?

Are memory drives old school? No, why?
  • Credit Card style flash drives can fit in your pocket, wallet, pad folio or book-bag, yet hold a tremendous amount of data such as training manuals, presentations, employee hand books, sharing meeting files, videos, music, even your school project!

Flash drives can have features that integrate into your workday, such as a lanyard style which solved a challenge for West Cary Middle School by providing current data to use for employee manuals and professional development - Paperless, producing an Eco- friendly solution!

In the last few blog posts we been highlighting the low cost but high recall gained with branded advertising. Penny wise shoppers will appreciate the longevity and brand interaction offered with a USB promotion. In fact, more data from the ASI Study that produced this info graphic shared that 45% of recipients keep a USB for quality and 58% keep them for their usefulness.

A common question? How much memory do I need?

It depends on the data you are loading.

  • Documents with photos, videos, music are data hogging files, while a 4G flash drive can hold every page of the 2009 Federal Budget report or every national geographic ever printed with room to spare.
  • On an 8G drive you might be transferring to music files to share thousands of minutes of music or thousands of photos from events or trips.
  • A 32G, you are probably sharing a full-length movie. Also, be aware that some USB drives upload faster than others, we can highlight the differences in your purchasing process to make sure you get the right drive for your next project.
  • TIP: For clients that are crunched for time, we have options to have your data securely preloaded before your memory drives arrive saving you value time.

Safety and compliance?

We remind our clients in the purchasing process that we only work with suppliers that provide "Tier 1- Grade A", which mean non-refurbished chips; meaning your memory capacity is exactly what you planned to purchase, not a recycled chip. Two of our favorite supplier partners featured in this post have rigorous safety standards in place to protect you as the consumer. Hirsch Gift describes their safety and compliance here.

A couple of our favorite unique drives with Hirsch, a custom John Deere Tractor for the NC AG Department and a stock shape truck for law firm , Young Moore, connecting with companies that have claims in the trucking industry.

Our partners at Leeds are committed to providing quality memory items that are free of viruses and malware.  Leed's outlined the steps that are taken in their factory to safeguard your products:
  •  All factory workstation computers are isolated from the internet.
  • Anti-virus scans are performed daily, and anti-virus signature updates are performed weekly.
  •  Factory workers are restricted from carrying memory pieces into the workshop areas.
  • All files that are to be preloaded for our customers are scanned for viruses prior to mass duplication.
  • The capacity on all our USB drives is checked prior packaging and spot checked again once received by our production team. If any unknown used space is found on any piece, the entire order is rejected.
When you are ready to design a campaign using a USB as part of the package, we will provide you a quality, safe, compliant and perhaps even custom option!
